VENTOTTO manufactures professional decorative paints, mineral plasters, microcement systems, architectural surface finishes, primers, additives, sealers, and related products.

The performance and final appearance of architectural finishing materials depend on many factors outside VENTOTTO’s control, including substrate condition, surface preparation, mixing, application technique, environmental conditions, installation practices, curing, maintenance, and compatibility with other materials.

1. Professional Use & Product Selection

VENTOTTO products must be selected and used in accordance with their intended application and current product instructions.

The purchaser, contractor, installer, designer, or other responsible party must determine whether a particular product or system is appropriate for the intended substrate, environment, exposure, and project conditions.

Where appropriate, VENTOTTO recommends installation by an experienced professional familiar with decorative mineral and cement-based finishes.

2. Substrate Responsibility

Proper substrate preparation is essential to product performance.

Before application, the installer is responsible for confirming that the substrate is appropriately:

• structurally sound;

• stable;

• clean;

• dry;

• properly cured;

• free from dust, oil, wax, grease, contamination, loose material, and other bond-breaking substances; and

• prepared for the selected VENTOTTO system.

Existing cracks, movement, moisture intrusion, structural deficiencies, substrate failure, improper framing, unstable joints, improperly installed boards, or other underlying conditions may transfer through or otherwise affect the finished surface.

VENTOTTO does not control the construction or condition of the underlying substrate and cannot guarantee against failures caused by conditions originating outside the VENTOTTO product itself.

3. Surface Preparation

Preparation requirements vary according to substrate and product.

Priming, cleaning, sanding, patching, leveling, reinforcement, waterproofing, crack treatment, or other preparation may be necessary before application.

Failure to properly prepare the surface may result in reduced adhesion, cracking, discoloration, delamination, inconsistent appearance, or other performance problems.

4. Complete VENTOTTO Systems

Certain VENTOTTO products are designed as components of a complete finishing system.

For example, VENTOTTO Microcement and Architectural Surface System may require specified components such as:

VENTOTTO Grip Primer → VENTOTTO finish material + Acrylic Fusion → VENTOTTO Sealer

Always follow the current technical instructions applicable to the specific system.

Substitution or addition of third-party primers, binders, additives, pigments, sealers, waterproofing products, or other materials may change the chemistry, adhesion, appearance, curing characteristics, durability, or overall performance of the system.

VENTOTTO is not responsible for failures caused by incompatible materials or unauthorized modification of VENTOTTO products.

5. Mixing

Products requiring mixing must be prepared according to the applicable instructions and specified ratios.

Incorrect amounts of water, Acrylic Fusion, pigment, powder, additives, or other components may materially affect performance.

Installers are responsible for accurate measurement, thorough mixing, appropriate mixing equipment, working time, and maintaining consistency between batches.

Do not attempt to restore material that has exceeded its usable working time unless expressly permitted by the applicable technical instructions.

6. Application Conditions

Application conditions can significantly affect the performance and appearance of decorative finishes.

Temperature, humidity, ventilation, direct sunlight, airflow, substrate temperature, moisture, coat thickness, and drying time should be considered before and during installation.

VENTOTTO products should not be applied outside their specified application conditions.

Adequate curing time must be provided between coats and before exposure to water, cleaning, heavy use, heat, or other environmental stresses.

7. Natural Variation & Hand-Applied Appearance

VENTOTTO decorative finishes are designed to create handcrafted architectural surfaces.

Variation in:

• color;

• movement;

• texture;

• pattern;

• tonal depth;

• sheen;

• trowel marks;

• brush movement; and

• overall appearance

is natural and may be an intentional characteristic of the finished product.

These variations are not, by themselves, product defects.

Different applicators may produce noticeably different appearances using the same product and color.

8. Samples & Color Approval

VENTOTTO strongly recommends preparing and approving a representative sample before full installation.

Whenever practical, the sample should use the intended:

• substrate;

• preparation system;

• product;

• color;

• application technique; and

• sealer.

Small samples, printed color charts, photographs, website images, and digital displays cannot guarantee an exact representation of a completed installation.

Lighting and surrounding colors can also substantially affect perceived color.

9. Batch Variation

Mineral and decorative products may exhibit minor differences between manufacturing or tinting batches.

Whenever possible, sufficient material from the same production or tinting batch should be purchased for the entire continuous surface.

The installer should inspect and, where appropriate, combine or manage material from different batches before application to minimize visible transitions.

10. Coverage

Published coverage rates are estimates and are not guarantees.

Actual coverage depends on substrate porosity and texture, preparation, application technique, product thickness, number of coats, installer technique, environmental conditions, and other project-specific factors.

Customers should allow sufficient additional material for waste, samples, touch-ups, and project-specific conditions.

11. Water Resistance & Wet Areas

Certain VENTOTTO systems can provide highly water-resistant or waterproof finished surfaces when the complete specified system is correctly installed, cured, and sealed for the intended application.

However, a decorative surface coating or sealer is not automatically a substitute for any waterproofing membrane, drainage system, flashing, building-envelope component, or other waterproofing required by applicable building codes or project specifications.

For showers, bathrooms, backsplashes, and other wet environments, all underlying waterproofing and construction requirements must be properly completed before the decorative finish is installed.

Damage caused by leaks, standing water, moisture intrusion from behind the surface, substrate moisture, plumbing failures, or inadequate underlying waterproofing is not considered a defect in the decorative finish itself.

12. Sealers

Where a VENTOTTO sealer is specified, proper application and maintenance of the sealer are essential to the performance of the finished system.

Sealers may alter color depth, sheen, texture, or appearance.

A representative sample should be approved before sealing the complete installation.

No architectural sealer makes a surface completely immune to staining, scratching, impact, chemicals, excessive heat, abrasion, or improper maintenance.

13. Maintenance

Finished surfaces must be cleaned and maintained appropriately for the installed system.

Abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, solvents, aggressive scrubbing tools, prolonged standing liquids, or other unsuitable cleaning methods may damage the finish or sealer.

Normal wear, scratches, impact damage, staining, abuse, neglect, improper cleaning, and failure to maintain the finished surface are not manufacturing defects.

14. Inspection Before & During Application

All products should be inspected before use.

Do not apply material that appears damaged, contaminated, incorrectly tinted, incorrectly supplied, or otherwise potentially defective.

If a potential product problem becomes apparent during installation, stop application immediately and contact VENTOTTO before continuing.

Continued installation after an apparent problem may substantially increase damage or repair costs and may affect the evaluation of any subsequent claim.

15. Product Claims

Any claim involving an alleged product defect should be reported to VENTOTTO promptly after discovery.

VENTOTTO may request:

• proof of purchase;

• product name;

• batch or lot number;

• photographs or video;

• remaining unused material;

• substrate information;

• mixing information;

• installation records;

• environmental conditions;

• application details; and

• other information reasonably necessary to investigate the claim.

VENTOTTO must be provided a reasonable opportunity to inspect or evaluate the alleged problem before the affected installation is removed, covered, repaired, or materially altered, when reasonably possible.

16. Product Warranty

VENTOTTO warrants that its products will conform to applicable VENTOTTO product specifications at the time of sale, subject to applicable law.

This warranty concerns the VENTOTTO product itself and does not constitute a guarantee of workmanship, installer performance, substrate performance, building construction, or a particular aesthetic result.

Product performance claims apply only under the conditions and limitations stated in applicable VENTOTTO technical documentation.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any warranty, consumer protection, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

17. What Is Not a Product Defect

Subject to applicable law, the following conditions are not, by themselves, evidence of a manufacturing defect:

• natural color or tonal variation;

• handcrafted texture or movement;

• differences caused by application technique;

• substrate-related cracking or movement;

• improper preparation;

• incorrect mixing;

• improper dilution;

• application outside specified conditions;

• insufficient curing;

• incompatible third-party products;

• moisture originating from the substrate or structure;

• damage from impact or abrasion;

• normal wear;

• improper cleaning or maintenance;

• improper storage, including freezing or excessive heat; or

• failure to follow applicable VENTOTTO technical instructions.

18. Limitation of Remedies & Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VENTOTTO will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from improper storage, preparation, mixing, installation, substrate conditions, maintenance, or use inconsistent with applicable product instructions.

Where applicable law permits a remedy to be limited and VENTOTTO determines that a VENTOTTO product was defective when supplied, the applicable remedy may include replacement of affected product, refund of the purchase price, or another remedy required by law.

Nothing in this Disclaimer limits liability for personal injury, defective products, implied warranties, or other rights or remedies where such limitation is prohibited or unenforceable under applicable law.

Washington law specifically regulates limitations of remedies and consequential damages, particularly where goods are purchased primarily for personal, family, or household use. That's why I would retain that final sentence rather than attempting an absolute waiver. 

19. No Guarantee of Installer Workmanship

VENTOTTO manufactures and supplies finishing materials.

Unless installation services are expressly provided by VENTOTTO under a separate written agreement, VENTOTTO does not supervise, control, certify, or guarantee the workmanship of independent contractors, installers, applicators, builders, designers, distributors, or other third parties.

The sale or recommendation of a VENTOTTO product does not constitute a guarantee of an independent installer’s work.

20. Technical Advice

Technical recommendations, demonstrations, training, sample preparation, telephone conversations, emails, videos, social-media content, and other information provided by VENTOTTO are intended to assist users in understanding our products.

Project conditions vary.

Technical assistance does not transfer responsibility for substrate evaluation, code compliance, construction practices, or proper installation from the responsible contractor, installer, designer, architect, or other project professional to VENTOTTO.

21. Building Codes & Project Requirements

The purchaser, installer, contractor, designer, architect, or other responsible project professional is responsible for determining compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, specifications, waterproofing requirements, fire-rating requirements, and other project-specific requirements.

VENTOTTO decorative materials should not be interpreted as replacing a required structural, fire-protection, waterproofing, or building-envelope system unless expressly supported by applicable VENTOTTO technical documentation and permitted by applicable law.

22. Applicable Law

This Product Use, Application & Warranty Disclaimer is subject to applicable federal law and the laws of the State of Washington.

Nothing contained in this document is intended to waive rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
